The Top 5 Best Beyerdynamic Headphones:

5. beyerdynamic Amiron Home – Best for Home Use

If you were to describe Amiron with one word for their audio quality and design, must be comfortable. A pair of open back headphones that are made for home use and they sound as good as they feel.

At first sight or as soon as you pick the Amiron Home you notice the Beyerdynamic craftsmanship that is expected and welcomed like always. These open back headphones come in a traditional robust build quality that tells us that they are capable of surviving many years of punishment.

The finish quality is flawless and the material choices of metal and plastic are excellent; the perfect mix to disturb the weight of headphones evenly. For a pair of big headphones, they are quite light, weighing 12 ounces. But, note they are made for home usage, not for you to take them in the streets or on public transport (still, no one can’t stop you; if you feel like it).

The headband is generously padded and also ensures the ability to make micro-adjustments. The earcups come in a lovely velour style and are quite big; you don’t have to worry about them fitting your big ears. The ear pads are very comfortable and you can wear these headphones for hours. With all that being said, their sizeable circumaural design, and velour cushioning offer insane comfort.

What completes these beyerdynamic headphones, must be their detachable cables. The Amiron home comes with a 3.5mm adapter and a 1/4 inch audio jack adapter.

As for the audio quality, they offer a neutral tonal musical signature. Accounting for their open-back design they present quite a large soundstage. The low-end is where Amiron draws the most of its warmth from. Overall, they sound great and will make a great companion for sitting at home on your sofa and enjoying some Movies or Music.

Pros

  • Great Comfort
  • Handles has a great treble on them
  • Detailed Bass

Cons

  • May sound a little too soft

4. beyerdynamic Lagoon – Best For ANC

The market of wireless noise-canceling headphones is pretty crowded those days and while everyone from the competition tries to show off their “skills”; It’s no surprise that Beyerdynamic wants a piece of the action.

With the release of the Lagoon, Beyerdynamic tries to take on Sony and Bose, let’s find out if Lagoon can compete with the big dogs.

On a pair of wireless headphones, portability is key; just like most of their nominal rivals, Lagoons can swivel and fold to be as portable as possible for easy storage and transport. What’s more, they contribute to the portability aspect even more thanks to their flyweight of 10 ounces.

They come in a gorgeously smooth matte finish and the leatherette covers the memory foam ear pads, provides long-lasting comfort, and sits nicely in your head for way longer than you would expect. The ear cups also have a feeling of solidity to them and are large enough to cover most ear sizes. This makes them a great pair of headphones for large heads. The headband is made out of high-grade plastic and aluminum that feels very durable, and at the same time, its memory foam is covered in the same leatherette as the ear cups.

The lagoon offers one of the Best Bluetooth connectivity thanks to the latest audio codecs like the Qualcomm aptX, aptX Low Latency, and AAC. On top of all that they have a monstrous battery life of 46 hours without ANC and with it On at 24 hours.

As for the ANC, Beyerdynamics bills them as “relaxed silence” and they sure live up to that word. They are capable of blocking out most of the background noises with almost no buzz present; at the same time, they do a good job of blocking the noise passively due to the closed-back design.

Yet, I can’t sugar-coat them and look like a paid reviewer, their ANC level can’t reach the peak of the silence the prominent Sony WH-1000XM4 and Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 can.

Sound-wise they deliver an appealing, balanced and detailed sound, the tuning is rather powerful and rich while at the same time it delivers a very detailed resolution. Overall, these bluetooth headphones sound great and don’t put the Beyerdynamic name at shame.

Pros

  • Really comfortable
  • Great Battery Life
  • Great audio quality

Cons

  • Bluetooth 4.2
  • ANC-wise can’t compete with the known names.

3. beyerdynamic MMX 300 – Best Gaming Headphones

Even though Beyerdynamic is known for its studio-oriented headphones, they decided to step into the gaming industry, with a great release, the MMX 300. And oh boy, sure the competition was shivering in fear with the announcement of the MMX 300.

They are what I like to refer to as “Audiophile Gaming”. Imagine having the uncanny audio quality of Beyerdynamic in a gaming form factor. Yep, you don’t have to imagine that anymore with the MMX300.

They are an all-black wired pair of headphones with a permanently attached microphone; which can swivel in all directions. They come in a “serious” looking design, and not in a flashy way that screams “Gaming Headsets. It has large round plastic earcups that are mounted on the anodized metal arms that connect to the headband. The headband and the ear pads are generously padded and are covered in leather. The result of all this is a comfortable solid fit for the long gaming sessions.

The MMX 300 gaming headphones also come with a shorter cable so you can connect the headsets to a mobile or console. Also a longer cable for connecting it to a PC or other devices. The short cable is 3.9 feet long while the longer one is 8.2.

No, they are not made only for “gaming”, they are very capable of handling music too, something you would expect from a model that takes cues from the well-known Beyerdynamic DT 770.

Indeed, they are meant for gaming but still won’t fail to deliver exceptional sound quality even when it comes to music. M300 will take you through the highest levels of bass with no distortion and all while being thumpy and powerful at the same time. As for gaming, no doubt that they offer a sound experience that will immerse you in the game itself. Definitely a great pair of beyerdynamic headphones.

Pros

  • Solid design and quite comfortable
  • Great Bass

Cons

  • On the pricey side

2. beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro – Best Closed-Back Headphones

After the success of the extremely popular DT 770 Pro, in 2016 Beyerdynamic announced the successor, DT 1770 Pro. What makes the 1770 Pro better than his predecessor must be the 45mm Tesla drivers and the improved design.

The DT 770 studio headphones were already pretty well-designed, but the DT 1770 PRO studio headphones take things to another scale. The headband and the ear cups of these studio headphones are constructed entirely out of metal; making them more premium and robust than their predecessor.

Even aesthetic wise they look attractive. These studio headphones come in an all-matte-black finish that feels modern; while the metallic print Logo that is emblemed at the center of the earcup adds a nice touch to the headphones. So rest assured and don’t doubt the built/design quality on the DT 1770 Pro. Surprisingly enough, despite being heavy and having a metal construction they didn’t disappoint in the comfort department either.

Thanks to the closed-back design of these studio headphones, the 1770 pro wonderfully isolates the outside noise. If you want to have a better idea of how well they isolate the noise, the environment noise appears at around 20 dB quieter.

As for the sound quality, all I can say is “Typical Beyer sound”. These studio headphones sound insanely good, after all, they are made for professional studio use. They provide a catchy, voluminous overall sound quality while blocking the noise outside with their closed-back design.

Definitely the best studio headphones from beyerdynamic.

Pros:

  • Premium build
  • Great adaptiveness
  • Great bass response
  • Accurate Sound Reproduction

Cons:

  • A bit tight on the head

1. beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro – Best All-Rounders

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro are perfect for audiophiles who are looking for good sounding music across all the genres, even more so when they want tight bass and great highs.

the DT 1990 Pro sport the traditional design of the German technicians. The whole headphones are covered in metal, matt metal, and only a bit of plastic that covers the wires. Although the metal build makes them heavier, than the plastic headphones from the competition, it gives them the premium and what I would call the “professional” look, and it doesn’t interfere with the comfort at all, you won’t have a problem wearing them for hours.

Sound quality ?, I’m not sure even if I should talk about it since it is simply Wonderful. Bass is impactful and it reaches far and wide, also deep enough to make the punchy bass notes flow from the 1990 Pro, all this is a result of the 45MM Tesla drivers. The midrange doesn’t push out too far or sit back it is perfectly placed in the middle. With the DT-1990 Pro it doesn’t feel like you are listening to a headphone rather the music itself.

Being this versatile and producing the music as it should come, makes them ideal for “almost anything use” and not just for studio.

Pros

  • Robust like a tank
  • Great Comfort
  • Sounds great across all genres
  • Audiophile level headphones
  • Great bass response

Cons

  • A bit large and bulky
  • Not for portable use

What Makes Beyerdynamic Headphones Good?

As I mentioned earlier, in the beginning, them surviving a crowded market with strong brands like Sony, Sennheiser, Audeza for all those years is a testimony for their sonic performance.

The way Beyerdynamic pays attention to details, the way they innovate something new every time, the design/build techniques, the accurate and excellent sound quality; when those all come together. Of course, they are good.

Basically what I mean is, If it says “Made in Germany” and has a Beyerdynamic logo on it – buy them, they are good.

They can easily be compared to studio monitors and other high quality audio equipment. They have versatile frequency response, good noise isolation and of course, fantastic sound.

Unbeatable Sound Quality

In a modern world where noise-canceling is everything, the “old dog” still manages to make an impact. Their ANC headphones might not be on par with the likes of Sony or Bose; however, Beyerdynamic sound quality beats both of them. No doubt, that they are one of the main players for audio quality.

Besides sound quality what separates Beyerdynamic from the competition is that almost every part of their headphones can be replaceable. You don’t have to waste a large sum of money to buy yourself a pair of new headsets instead without breaking your bank you just replace the damaged parts.

Final, Wrap Up

We can’t deny the fact that Beyerdynamic stocks some stunning headphones; I can even confidently say that all of their headphones that have a price tag of more than 150$ have superb and exceptional engineering which will stomp most of the competition.
Beyerdynamic is a brand that targets mostly studio use and professionalism, so the price they come with is hard to swallow you should take this into consideration.

Fun Fact: Beyerdynamic was the Beatles’ headphone of choice for recording.

You will find a lot of their headphones at a budget price but that’s only because a lot of their flagships are old now and time has consumed them, resulting in price drops.

Nevertheless, even their oldest products perform insanely well to this day.
