Bookshelf speakers are a terrific way to have a pleasant evening at home with great sound quality, whether you’re watching a movie, playing games, or simply listening to music.
What makes them so convenient is their small size, which allows them to fit almost anywhere and provides your room with a more sumptuous appearance.
The Edifier bookshelf speaker is an example of this.
Edifier is known in the audio world for producing high-quality bookshelf speakers at a reasonable price. While reputation-wise they can’t compete with the big dogs like Klipsch, Sony, and some other brands, on paper they sure can since their performance capabilities are one par if not better.
In today’s article, I’ll go over the Best Edifier bookshelf speakers.

Top 4 Best Edifier Bookshelf Speakers
4. Edifier P17 – Best Passive Speakers
Let’s begin with a set of speakers that look and sound better than their price, the Edifier P17 passive speakers with an elegant look.
Edifier has risen through the ranks in recent years as a result of the release of a wide range of powered speakers that have become both best sellers and well acclaimed.
However, we’re looking at a pair of passive bookshelf speakers that will provide audio enthusiasts greater flexibility when it comes to using an external amplifier.
It’s funny but it seems like most consumers appear to prefer the look of those bookshelf speakers above their sound capabilities.
The P17 has a really distinctive appearance that will make it stand out in a positive way. They have a higher-end appearance than their prices suggest.
They’re not quite little, but at 9.46 pounds and 6.61 x 5.04 x 9.37 inches, they’re certainly not unmanageable.
Thank goodness they have a “con” in that they tend to attract fingerprints, but this isn’t anything groundbreaking, and they are still flawless in terms of design.
Just be careful where you put them, although they will blend with anything, they aren’t quite compact and that might result in bad sound quality, solely for placing them badly.
They are passive speakers in terms of sound quality.
So what I’m saying is that they have a low decibel level. Unlike active speakers, which have a built-in amplifier, passive speakers, such as P17 in this case, will require additional assistance.
On the plus side, you can use whichever receiver you choose, whether it’s a strong one or something that just slightly boosts your speakers.
They sound clear overall, and their sound has a lot of clarity and warmth to it.
They’re a great choice for home theater or any other speaker system you might have in place, but make sure you turn up the volume or use some external amplifier to do it for you.
3. Edifier R1850DB – Best Active Speakers
The Edifier R1850DB, a set of active speakers that satisfies a variety of demands, is the counterpart of the above option.
A very adaptable alternative that will appeal to the majority of individuals, and, more importantly, they are quite reasonably priced.
Although it lacks the brand recognition of the big dogs like Bose, Sony, and Klipsch, the value that those speakers provide is essentially the same; they are all about HiFi.
Although they don’t appear to be as premium designed as the passive speakers we just discussed, they are quite well-made, and I enjoy the black color scheme.
The wood cabinet is quite solid and is made of MDF wood, which is currently the best material available for minimizing resistance and providing a robust feel behind the speakers.
The textured front is a nice touch that keeps fingerprints at bay. The included grilles are of good quality and a good option for dust protection of the woofer and tweeter.
Most studio setups will look great with the sleek jet black finish. It’s also a fantastic set for the living room.
They have dimensions of 6.1in x 8.8in x 10in and weigh as little as 16.8 pounds. It won’t be a problem to leave them “chill” in your living room or studio.
Just like the other speakers in this list, it comes with a wireless remote control which will allow you to control the volume and input selection. It’s a pretty compact remote control which is a big plus in my opinion.
When it comes to sound quality, this is where they shine the most.
For the price, the R1850DB provides excellent audio quality.
The low-ends are highlighted, and they have depth to them without being overly boomy. They are extremely accurate in the low end, but also in the mids, with a well-established interaction between instruments and vocals. The highs, on the other hand, keep their clarity.
They sound nice overall and are very balanced, which provides them an advantage over the previous passive alternative. You can also use these as computer speakers if you want to.
These will be your favorite part of your speaker system.
2. Edifier S1000MKII – Best For Audiophiles
Who says Edifier isn’t capable of producing high-end bookshelf speakers?
Edifier proves to the audio community with the launching of the S1000MK II that they can deliver audiophile-level speakers as well, and that they will not limit themselves to satisfying simply the home crowd.
Nonetheless, given the number of functions they provide, they are still reasonably priced, with nothing that will break the bank.
When it comes to design, it looks almost identical to its predecessor, the S1000, with a few minor differences.
Despite this, both the predecessor and the successor have an excellent design.
The speaker’s black surface has a leather-like texture that is highly inviting. Moreover, the edifier speakers have traditional wooden side panels that give them a luxurious look.
They are 10.6 x 8.1 x 13.2 inches in size and weigh 40 pounds, making them rather large and tall.
That’s understandable given that they’re designed for audiophiles with a good studio.
When it comes to connectivity, there is a lot behind it, those are a pair of wireless bookshelf speakers.
aptX-HD is supported by the Bluetooth input specification. That is, it can enable transmission at greater bit rates, up to 24bit/48kHz.
Switching between Bluetooth devices is also quite convenient and speedy. It has the capability of supporting many connected devices.
It comes with a wireless remote control which lets you control a lot of things on these speakers. Speakers usually don’t have good remote control devices, but this one was suprising.
When it comes to sound, they sound fantastic; if a device can please the ear of an audiophile, you know it’s serious.
Even an audiophile will struggle to identify the difference between the S1000 and the MK II in terms of sound.
However, in other areas, the latter has the upper hand. The overall treble quality has been increased.
The new Edifier S1000MKII has a fantastic sound. You won’t even need to adjust the bass and treble, and it sounds exactly like you would expect it to.
Because there is no dedicated subwoofer, the overall bass isn’t as strong as on some high-end bookshelf speakers, but that’s fine. The bass is still enjoyable right out of the box.
If you want to satisfy the audiophile’s ear, you need to know that those mean business, they are not billed that way for no reason.
1. Edifier R1280DB – Best All-Rounder
The powered speakers that helped Edifier become who they are today are next on the list.
The Edifier R1280DB strikes an excellent mix between price and sound quality.
I was blown away the first time I had the opportunity to listen to them; they sound incredible, and they don’t hold back when it comes to connectivity and design either.
Those are one lovely pair of speakers that will blend in everywhere, including your living area, bedroom, studio, gaming setup, and so on.
The wood grain finish isn’t actually made of wood. It’s just a regular MDF board with a vinyl wrap on it. Despite this, they have a substantial and robust feel to them. I wouldn’t recommend being tough with these, but they’ll get the job done and won’t mind a few knocks and bumps.
While they are not overly designed, but rather sophisticated, they are also very compact, giving you plenty of room for transportation and space savings.
Overall, I like the way they look.
They also come with a remote control that isn’t particularly attractive or durable. Nonetheless, at this price point, control is not something you see very often. The remote control gets the job done after all.
Its Bluetooth connectivity extends the versatility of the powered speakers even further.
When it comes to the important part now which is sound quality, in one word, they sound amazing.
The mids and highs are exceptionally well balanced, with a flat response. They will deliver what they claim, whether you are a simple listener or a DJ who wants to utilize them for mastering.
Although the 4-inch woofer is modest, it still manages to offer excellent lows, but don’t anticipate earth-shattering bass.
Having said that, nothing changes the fact that they sound good and can get loud despite their small size, and I would even go so far as to claim that they sound better than some of the competition’s speakers that cost considerably more. Definitely one of the best bookshelf speakers from Edifier.
The Best Edifier Bookshelf Speakers: Buyer’s Guide
When it comes to buying an Edifier Bookshelf Speaker, I am well aware that this is a renowned company that doesn’t need an introduction, and good quality for them is almost taken for granted.
Still, there are things that give a speaker the edge in some field, and that will make your find a bit more puzzled.
You want to find the speaker that will fulfill your needs in all fields be it sound signature, design, or connectivity.
Sound quality is all that matters when the word is about speakers or anything that is audio-related.
First thing first, always make sure that the bookshelf speakers you are buying have a good sound quality and will provide you with a pleasant listening experience. You don’t want anything that distorts a lot and sounds muffled.
Most of the Edifier speakers sound good, some are made for average listening and some also will delight audiophiles, which is not something that is seen on a pair of bookshelf speakers.
Second, to sound quality, design is the next factor that plays an important role when it comes to buying bookshelf speakers.
We want our speakers to look good and nothing extraordinary to stand out oddly. Thankfully, the Edifier follows a premium and luxurious approach when it comes to their speakers, they are nothing flashy and don’t feature any kind of aggressive design, they will most likely suit any environment and blend in perfectly with the rest of your furniture.
Not only do you want them to look good but you also want them to be in contact, so you can fit them wherever you want, just fine, without them taking too much space or cables being cluttered everywhere.
We don’t buy bookshelf speakers every day, despite them coming at a cost-effective price, you want something that is well made and durable so it can company you for some good years.
Although long gone are the days when speakers were limited on connectivity, it is still an important factor that you need to consider.
Most bookshelf speakers nowadays make sure to include the most frequented connectivity options on them, not only that makes them versatile to be used for many occasions but also to be suitable for most people be it audio professionals or just average Joes in general.
Some of them also come feature-rich with different things, like Dolby Atmos, Bass boosting capabilities, and much more, it mostly depends on the price of the bookshelf speaker.
For some people this is obvious, but yeah price also plays a role when it comes to buying the right Edifier bookshelf speakers.
Although Edifier is known for offering cost-effective speakers, the speakers they manufacture still differ from one another. Some of them are feature-packed resulting in a bigger price tag while some just include the basics and come at a much cheaper price.
You want to purchase the one that won’t affect your bank that much.
