Why Should You Wall Mount Speakers?

Before telling you guys the ways how to wall mount speakers, the first thing that I would like to mention in this section is the reason why you guys should do wall mounts, and what a wall mounted speaker offers to you.

Different rooms have different sizes, and owning a speaker that doesn’t fit or the ones that could occupy your small room, the best way to deal with it is to wall mount one. Wall-mounting speakers are super good choices, and they will be related to many things, those that you cannot ever imagine.

Wall mounting a speaker will help you add more space to your room, and that is a definite fact! Besides that, you will notice that the sound that comes out of them comes from the corners of your room, and that makes them perfect when it comes to the sound quality, especially if you own speakers that are too good to be true when it comes to sound, simply put surround speakers with sound technologies within. Imagine how that sound will be delivered to you. I would like to add here that there are some great ceiling speakers for Dolby Atmos that you can find.

How to Wall Mount Speakers?

I will be mentioning some of the main things that you guys should do in order to wall mount them. There are speakers that come specifically to be mounted on a wall meanwhile with some others you guys should improvise and show your DIY skills, just like the ones that I will mention below! Before going into them, let me mention some tips:

  • The first thing that you should have in mind is to find out the exact location where you will be placing the speakers.
  • After you have found the location, you should know that the height should be at ear level, or more specifically said, you should have in mind the area of your room in which you have your furniture, so that the speakers can be pointed at you.
  • Make sure to find out the best tools to wall mount a speaker, because nobody would want to destroy speakers by just trying to wall mount them, right? Well, I wouldn’t!

Who doesn’t love DIY?

Now that you have an idea about the things that you should consider, let us find the ways how to wall-mount a speaker:

Use Hooks

Whenever the speakers don’t come with their own hooks, you should find some of the strongest ones that you can use, and they are the command hooks. Command hooks are basic hooks that are used to hang different things on the walls, such as mirrors, pictures, or whatever you want. The good thing about these types of hooks is that they don’t leave any sign on the walls in case you want to throw them away, especially if you are a renter, it would be the best thing to use.

Use Alien Tape

Alien Tape is one of the strongest types of tapes that you guys can ever find. It is known as a “technology tape” which helps you to adjust different devices without the need for any screw. What is special about this tape is that it can be used and reused for how much time you want! Many people say that it is eternal as it can be used for a lifetime. The Alien Tape is also a good choice in case you want to wall-mount your speakers outside, as they can withstand any kind of weather condition.

Keyhole Bracket

Besides using hooks, you guys can also use some other strong tools which are the keyhole brackets, and I am pretty sure that you have already seen one and have an idea of what they are used for. It is a method of securing or even hanging an object, such as speakers, against a flat surface which in this case is the wall.
Once you securely put the keyhole bracket on the wall, you can easily put the speaker on it, but you should know that these brackets cannot hold up more than 20 pounds of weight, so it would be better if you put small speakers on them.

Things to Know:

I mentioned that wall-mounting speakers are a great way to listen to music but still many people say that there are some disadvantages.

The first specific example that is given as a disadvantage of putting speakers on walls is the fact that there are different speakers with different weights, and the super-heavy speakers shouldn’t be put on there.

Also, there are speakers that include a swivel arm which is meant to be used for handling, and they basically cannot be put on a flat surface unless you choose to hang them in some way.

Theoretically,  surround sound system speakers may all be positioned on walls. Even hanging some subwoofers on a wall is an option.

Normally, a subwoofer’s sheer size would make this alternative unworkable.

In this situation, you would want to position your surround sound speakers in front of your seating area since surround speakers often feature a 5.1 audio system.

Just don’t forget to check the speaker mounts and how to properly adjust them.

Final Words, Conclusion

Here we are at the end of this article, in which I tried to tell you guys some of the main three manners or ways that you can wall mount your speakers. It is not the easiest job in the world but still, it isn’t even the hardest thing to do!

I hope that this article will be a guide for you! Have fun!
