Klipsch has been a major high-end speaker manufacturer for over 50 years, and its speakers are noted for their high quality, longevity, and excellent sound.

With that said, we can agree that there is no bad product or speaker from Klipsch, but in a way, that’s what makes it so difficult to choose.

The Klipsch RP 160m and RP 600m are two examples.

This is a hot topic in the audio community, therefore I decided to write a comparative blog to make things easier for you when choosing one of those speakers.

Continue to remain to the end to witness how they relate with one another.

Klipsch RP 160M and RP 600M

Before I go into the specifics of their design and sound quality, I’d want to say a few words about both speakers so that we’re all on the same page.

Klipsch RP 160M

The Klipsch RP 160M is a pair of bookshelf speakers that are widely rated as among the best available.

The Klipsch RP-160M is not only efficient, linear, and balanced, but also highly authentic. Furthermore, they boast Klipsch’s trademark design, so you can rest assured that those bookshelf speakers will look great in your living room.

They’re also quite high-end, so audiophiles will spot them right away, not only because of their looks but also because of the sound quality they provide.

The RP-160 system is simple to use and provides a rich, immersive listening experience.

The sound quality of your movies and music will improve. That’s all there is to it.

Klipsch RP 600M

The RP 600M bookshelf speakers are a pair of reference premier bookshelf speakers that will immerse you in full surround sound, as described above for the RP 160M.

Klipsch’s good appearances are expected; you can’t miss the cooper cones, which will go in with any type of furniture.

I can safely claim that the RP 600M speakers are the most popular and well-reviewed, and this is primarily due to their affordable pricing; while they are still high-end and high-quality speakers, the price is not something that will hurt you.

Klipsch RP 160M vs. Klipsch RP 600M: A Comparison of Bookshelf Speakers

Now that we got an idea of what we have to do, we can go in and dive deeper.

In Terms of Design, How Do They Compare?

To begin, both of these speakers are best positioned on stands or open bookshelves away from the walls. They can be used as a stereo pair to listen to a wide range of music.

Both appear to be different from one another, however, they sport the Klipsch Signature Design.

A speaker’s construction quality influences not just its sound quality and performance, but also its longevity. To make an ideal purchase, you should be well-versed in the materials and procedures used in the speaker manufacturing process.

The RP-160M has a high-quality wood grain polymer veneer as well as a brushed polymer, making it easy to blend into any environment.

Furthermore, the ceramic-spun copper woofer makes it lightweight and portable.

Besides this, the Klipsch Tractrix Horn-loaded LTS tweeter on the RP-160m delivers the highest-quality bass.

The RP 600M, on the other hand, has a stunning walnut and ebony construction. It’s a beautiful wood, and it gives the speaker a rich appearance.

This traditional Klipsch design goes with any decor while maintaining a robust addition to any location.

Additionally, these speakers include a copper-wound, dual-layer coil with excellent conductivity, resulting in smooth sound effects.

What’s amazing about the RP 600m is that the woofer is housed in a non-resonating steel enclosure, which lowers distortion and focuses on high-quality acoustics.

In terms of dimensions and weight, the Klipsch RP-600m measures 8 x 118 x 157 inches and weighs 16.1 pounds.
When compared to other bookshelf speakers on the market, it is lightweight, and it is simple to lift, move, and clean.

When comparing the RP-160m to the RP-600m, the Klipsch RP-160m is somewhat heavier. It measures 12.86 x 8.81 x 16.67 inches and weighs 20.9 pounds.

As a result, the RP-160M is more suited to large areas and high-volume interior settings.

Nonetheless, they are well crafted with great measurements; nothing groundbreaking here; just that you may struggle with the weight of the RP-160M.

What Do They Sound Like: Who is the Superior Performer?

When it comes to sound quality, both speakers perform admirably, and it’s no surprise that they’re among the best on the market.

The Klipsch RP-160m, for example, has a unique horn tweeter that provides a powerful and smooth bass with no distortion while also being excellent in the high range.

No, it doesn’t neglect the mid-range or the realistic soundstage; in fact, it excels in almost every category.

The RP-160M also includes a high-quality Cerametallic woofer that provides a natural midrange and yet again, eliminates distortion.

The Klipsch RP-600m, on the other hand, features Klipsch’s own Exceptional Horn technology, which helps to prevent sound waves from leaking in different directions.

It also improves the dynamics and rewards of a theatre-like sound.

When it comes to audio performance or system specifications, though, they are nearly identical.

They each feature a frequency response of 45 Hz to 25 kHz, a tweeter size of 1 inch, a woofer size of 6.5 inches, and peak power of 400 watts.

I am hard-pressed to tell you which one sounds better, but the Klipsch RP-160M wins because it excels in every range.

Final Words, Conclusion

So, to sum everything up, I’ll begin with their price.

While they are pretty identical to one another in terms of performance, however, the price is not.

There’s a significant price difference, with the RP-600M being the less expensive alternative.

In terms of design, it’s primarily a matter of personal opinion because they both look so nice. I’m not sure which one to pick as the winner here, but yeah the RP-600M being more compact and lighter gives it an edge.

Yet again, the heavy weight on the RP-160M is like a statement to it being a really well-built speaker that will last a long time, or should I say a lifetime?

However, when it comes to sound quality, the RP-600M is the way to go if you want a home theater experience without breaking the bank. On the other side, if you are an audiophile who values good sound quality, you will have to spend a higher price for the RP-160M, but you will get superior sound quality.

Finally, to bring the article to a close, As I said at the beginning of the article, there isn’t a single terrible Klipsch speaker.

Whether you purchase the RP-600M or the RP-160M, you can rest assured that you are getting excellent speakers.

Happy Listening.
